G8 Bike Ride 2005

Redfield

We will be setting off from London on June 19th and our first night will be spent camping at the Redfield Community in Buckinghamshire where we will be hosted by the Low-Impact Living Initiative.

Low-Impact Living Initiative (LILI) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping protect the global environment by promoting sustainable alternatives to various aspects of everyday life. We believe that by incorporating these ideas into their lives, people can also improve their quality of life and save money.

On our way to Redfield we intend to ride through Linslade where people have been protesting against the construction of a bypass. From the Stop The Linslade Bypass website:

The campaign against the Linslade Western Bypass has generated an amazing amount of publicity and highlighted the issues around roadbuilding and the lack of public transport - it will have made many people think much harder about these issues.

The Linslade people are expecting us sometime late afternoon at the Wing Hill roundabout (junction of A418 and A505).

Anyone who has joined us to ride for the day and who needs to get back down to London could go to the nearby Leighton Buzzard train station.
